Settings

Everything airZ Editor remembers for you, where you change it, and how to put it back. None of it is part of a document: it belongs to you, on this computer.

The Settings window

File › Settings… holds three things: which release this is, the assistant's connection, and the scene compiler. See Settings.

What the editor remembers as you work

Most preferences have no window of their own. You set them by using the editor, and it keeps them for next time.

Where they are kept

In your Windows profile, in %APPDATA%\airZ Editor: the preferences in ui.json, the recent documents in recent.json. The assistant's key, when you give it one, is kept in the Windows credential store. See Where your files live.

Starting again from the defaults

  1. Close airZ Editor.
  2. Open %APPDATA%\airZ Editor in File Explorer.
  3. Rename ui.json to ui.json.old, rather than deleting it, so you can go back.
  4. Start the editor. Panels, shortcuts and every preference above are back to their defaults, and you will need to pair your controllers again.

Your documents, their versions, your script shelf and your downloaded templates are not touched.

What is not a preference

Things you might look for here that belong to the document instead, and travel with it:

  • a document's artboard sizes, frame rates, colours, and whether its safe areas are showing;
  • which live input a scene plays (Input 1): that is the scene's, the port it comes from on this computer is yours;
  • the reference picture you trace over.
