Object properties

Every kind of object, what its inspector holds, and what of it you can animate. Each row leads to the page that explains the object in full.

What every object has

Every object that sits on the artboard, whatever its kind, has:

PropertyAnimate itOn the timeline
Position X, YYesPosition
Scale X, YYesScale
RotationYesRotation
OpacityYesBlend
Origin X, YYesOrigin
Name, visibility, lockNo
Custom properties you addYesCustom Properties

Rows can also be bound to a view model property with the data glyph beside the diamond, so the data sets them on air. See Transform and origin for how position, scale, rotation and origin work together.

Draw order can be keyed too: which object is in front can change over a timeline. See Timeline.

Finding a property's row

  • In the inspector, in Animate mode, a row with a diamond can be animated. The data glyph beside it binds the row to data. See The diamond, and the data glyph.
  • On the timeline, keyed properties are grouped under the names in the right-hand column above: Position, Fill 1, Stroke 2, Mesh vertex 12.
