Which release of airZ Editor this is, how the stage previews, and the tools it can work with.
File › Settings…
The window has three parts. Changes take effect as you make them; Close closes it.
This editor

Release is the version you are running and its build number, for example 1.0.0 (build 1). Quote it when you report a problem.
A template in the template library can say which build it needs, which is why the build number is shown here: compare the two when a template will not open. The same version, with the day it was built, is at the right of the top bar.
Preview holds one checkbox, Compatibility. Off, the default, a 3D layer with ray tracing on is previewed traced on the stage, as airZ Engine draws it, where this computer's graphics card can trace. On, the stage never traces, and draws every document the simpler way. Turn it on if the stage misbehaves on this graphics card. It changes only what you see here: the exported graphic, and what plays on air, are the same either way.
If the graphics card resets while you work, a notice says so, and the stage carries on without ray tracing until you restart the editor.
Assistant
How the assistant connects and how much it may do in one go. Every row is on The assistant › Settings.
Scene compiler
It comes with airZ Editor: there is nothing to install. The window says what it is for under the heading: "Used by the assistant and by custom 3D materials; designing and exporting do not need it."
| Row | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Installed | "Yes, built in". If it is missing, "Missing from this installation. Reinstall airZ Editor to get it back." |
| Version | Its version, and whether it is the one this editor was tested with. If it is not: "… this editor was tested with version, and another version may write things playout does not know. Reinstall airZ Editor to get the tested one." |
