Command line and tools
Starting airZ Editor with a document, from a shortcut, a script or Open with, and the outside tools it works with.
Opening a document at start
Give the program a document, and it opens with that document instead of the Start screen:
bat
"D:\Programs\airZ Editor\airZ Editor.exe" "D:\Graphics\Lower third.airz"The first path is wherever you put the airZ Editor folder; see Install. The document can be an .airz, an .airzscene or a .riv. A .riv opens as a new, untitled document, the same as File › Import .riv file…. Anything else on the line is ignored.
The same works from Windows:
- Open with: right-click a document in File Explorer, Open with › Choose another app, and pick
airZ Editor.exe. Tick Always use this app to make double-click open it. - A shortcut whose target ends with a document's path opens that document every time: handy for a show's main graphic.
Tools that work with it
| Tool | What for | Where |
|---|---|---|
| The scene compiler | Comes with airZ Editor. Used by the assistant and by custom 3D materials; designing and exporting do not need it | File › Settings… › Scene compiler says it is there, and its version. See Settings |
| airZ Engine | Plays exported graphics on air | Its own manual |
| The controller | Puts graphics in a rundown and takes them to air | The controller and its own manual |
Automating what happens to a graphic
The editor itself has no command for exporting or syncing. For a pipeline that builds rundowns or feeds data, work from what an export writes:
- the graphic, which airZ Engine plays by name from its template folder;
bindings.json, which lists every name and type the graphic accepts.
See What export produces and Sending values from airZ Engine.
